The New Immigration Reform Bill: "How Will It Impact Undocumented Residents with or without Disabilities"
As a Latino Rehabilitation Counselor with a severe disability, I am always interested in learning how new congressional bills might influence the roles of Latinos within the United States and the workforce community. Within the past few months, President George Bush has raised the topic of immigration reform within the borders of Texas, New Mexico, and California.

People with Disabilities in the Mass Media
What is beautiful in this country can be considered as a very concrete and well-formulated idea. The public can begin to grasp the idea of what is attractive any time there is a red carpet event on television. Fashion is the order of any red carpet event. Los Ninos Services is a multi-lingual agency, serving the development needs of young children and their families. They specialize in home-based evaluations and services, parent/child groups, and training for early childhood professionals. My first conversation was with the group's advisor, Hector Rosales, a social worker (LCSW) originally from Hatillo, Puerto Rico, and with Nicky Ramirez, MSW, his co-facilitator and a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Military Budget Affects Services for People with Disabilities
The current administration is seeking to shrink funding for social programs in the areas of education, the environment, housing and healthcare (especially Medicare/Medicaid), by billions of dollars. Monies set aside for preserving health programs for the aged, poor and disabled will, it appears, be redirected. The federal government budget is being cut in areas that do not correspond to national security while increasing the defense budget.
