Self-Determination in Self-Employment
At 7:00 a.m. on a weekday on a major thoroughfare in California's Oakland Fruitvale District, Latino men are pushing food carts to a corner, between two retail businesses or next to a parking lot. At these portable carts, one can buy fruit, tamales, tacos, tortas , sweet bread, horchata or coffee. More than appetizing treats, these food carts provide self-employment for Latinos who find themselves without any options.

Nestlé Partners with Vocational Program to Hire Qualified Workers with Disabilities
Armando works at the Nestlé Distribution Center in Mira Loma, California. For over eight years, he has helped maintain a clean work environment at the facility. When he first arrived at the warehouse, Armando was shy, soft-spoken and slow at beginning his duties.

Disability Awareness Day in the Bronx
Hostos Community College is a two-year school located in Bronx, New York. The Hostos student population is predominantly Hispanic. Due to the large Hispanic student population, both disabled and non-disabled, Hostos offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and high school equivalency classes with the opportunity to continue on to obtaining an Associate's Degree.
