One of the sessions of the conference was designed
to recruit reporters for the Proyecto Visión website newsmagazine.
According to its project, Visión will be paying
reporters from all the different regions of the country to cover
topics related to employment of Latinos with disabilities, best
practices, success stories, services and resources.
The idea of the project is that at least five project
reporters will be recruited and trained to produce articles for
Visión and approximately 15 others per year will be groomed
to conduct disability awareness and basic disability employment
legislation training to a wide variety of Hispanic community-based
organizations, agencies and businesses.
Additionally, WID will broaden its recruitment efforts
to find project interns from within the Hispanic community to work
in the project. The project paid reporters, will regularly submit
articles about employment possibilities, success stories, new resources,
etc.
The session was led by the editors of Proyecto Visión's
website, and counted with the presence of ten conference participants
interested to know more about the positions.
For the second year of Proyecto Visión, reporters
will be selected and recruited and this will generate a broader
coverage of the situation of Latinos with disabilities in the U.S.
while opening training and job opportunities for the group.
During the session, participants shared personal
experiences as writers and information disseminators and offered
resources and other kinds of collaboration to Proyecto Visión.
