Win
$25,000 for Your Accessible Community
|
On July 24, the National Organization
on Disability (NOD) launched its 2002 Accessible America campaign.
A community or town or city will be given $25,000 for being especially
accessible to its disabled residents.
Talk to your mayor or elected official
about applying for this recognition and reward. In this contest,
the winning entry will be a community that is providing its disabled
residents with access to jobs, education, religious worship, voting,
transportation, housing or other local social, recreational, cultural
and sports activities.
Last year, the winner was Venice, Florida.
Entries must be postmarked by December 31, 2002. For details, phone
Nancy Starnes at 202 293 5960 or go to the NOD website: www.nod.org
