Want a paid internship to learn customer-service techniques? Internships available in Long Beach, California

Paid internships are now available for students who participate in the Customer Service training program at the Long Wire Contact Center based in Long Beach, California.

The Long Wire Contact Center, which is a subsidiary of Goodwill Industries, will teach the basics of customer service in a friendly and stress-free setting. This 12-week program is open to individuals who are blind, or have low vision, or any other type of disability. The program is intended to prepare students to earn a good living in a field that offers thousands of potential jobs.

Students will learn assistive technology that will aid them with any degree of blindness or low vision to do their job quickly and accurately. Participants will also learn how to deal with problem customers, how to input data into actual databases, and how to use critical telephone techniques.

The first six weeks of the program are spent in a classroom setting. During the last six weeks, students will participate in a paid internship working in an actual call center fielding calls, dealing with customer problems, and inputting data into a database.

After graduating from training, each student will be assigned a job developer who will help him or her find a decent, well paid position.
