At least 9350 people from all over the
world registered for the second international arts festival of the
deaf, called DeafWay. Held in Washington D.C. during July, the festival
was organized by Gallaudet College.
The festival featured performing and
visual arts created by deaf people and the art was shown at venues
all over the city. For example, the Mexican Cultural Institute was
one of the venues where art by deaf Latinos was on display. There
are hundreds of photographs and news stories about DeafWay II on
its website: www.deafway.org
