Texas Foundation to Assist Hispanic Youth

The Long Foundation has announced a $10 million program to assist Hispanic youth in Texas, where they represent 36% of that state's student population. Beginning in 2003, grants will be available to charities, schools, government agencies and universities that target areas in Texas with large Hispanic populations. The Foundation will look for projects that support at least one of the following five areas: ongoing relations of youths with caring adults, safe places for after-school activities, promoting healthy starts and futures, providing marketable skills through effective education, and providing opportunities to give back through community service.
